My jewellery collection holds some of my most precious possessions. What I love about jewellery is that it makes an ordinary outfit feel so special. If the piece of jewellery holds a special meaning then that feeling of specialness is even greater. Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere recently shared some of her favourite jewellery pieces and why they mean so much to her. I really enjoyed reading it so I thought I’d do a similar post.
Kmart is having such a moment right now – not a day goes by where I don’t see at least one person’s latest purchase in my Instagram feed. It’s especially killing it with homewares. All that copper is making me swoon! Yesterday I headed to my local store to get a new laundry hamper that I’d seen in a magazine (I instagrammed it here if you’re interested). And of course while I was there I got distracted by the other homeware and storage products. We’re in a bit of a spring cleaning mode at the moment so I sadly had to ignore a lot of the beautiful pieces calling my name but I couldn’t say no to a few organisational products. After all, they can only but help with the cleaning and the organising. Of course, I gravitated towards products to help with beauty storage.
I‘m not sure I’ve really talked about books on here before – years ago I may have done a book review or two but other than that I haven’t really mentioned reading, or more specifically my love of reading. I’ve been an avid reader (and writer) for as long as I can remember. I could easily and happily spend an entire week curled up with a couple of books.
When I was younger my mom used to have to make me stop reading and go to sleep. I decided I needed to get around this whole ‘lights out’ thing so I used my pocket money to buy a torch and I hid it in my room. I was then able to read under my duvet well into the night… until she caught me! Books have been my joy, my main source of entertainment and sometimes a place of escape.
Continuing the theme of resolutions that’s almost taken over the blog recently (I hope you’ve been enjoying it) I wanted to talk about my beauty resolutions. I don’t know if I’ve ever really made resolutions about beauty before but I’ve decided this year I want to make a few changes.
Now I’m not taking these too seriously and won’t get annoyed at myself if I don’t stick to them but I find resolutions to be inspiring and motivating.
Gosh it’s been a busy week. Between the new year, the rebrand and posting everyday, there has been a lot going on. You probably noticed that things got really quiet around here at the end of the year. We were halfway through Halloween posts and then there was nothing! There were a few reasons for this. The biggest was that my blog was hacked and it took several weeks to get back up. Thankfully all is good now. I wanted to take this chance to talk about what’s in store for A Lovely Look in 2016.
If you’re a regular visitor, you will have noticed the redesign. I have been talking about it in almost every post this week so hopefully you’ve explored the site a bit. Firstly I wanted to mention the new photos of me on my about page and sidebar. These were taken by my friend and talented photographer, Shardae Foden. Today I thought I’d go over the new design and show you my favourite parts.
Every which way I look it seems like someone is getting married or having a baby. With these amazing life events comes a million invitations. I’m not a fan of cluttered fridges but it really is the best place to display invitations and important notes. The only problem? I couldn’t find any fridge magnets to suit my aesthetic. The solution? DIY of course! I recently realised I don’t do enough projects with glitter so I’ve decided to change that!
