Every which way I look it seems like someone is getting married or having a baby. With these amazing life events comes a million invitations. I’m not a fan of cluttered fridges but it really is the best place to display invitations and important notes. The only problem? I couldn’t find any fridge magnets to suit my aesthetic. The solution? DIY of course! I recently realised I don’t do enough projects with glitter so I’ve decided to change that!
Step 1: Using a paint brush, apply a thin layer of Mod Podge to the bezel.
Step 2: Pour a small amount of glitter into the bezel then move it around so the glitter covers all of the Mod Podge.
Step 3: Tap off the excess glitter, either into a pile or straight back into the glitter container.
Step 4: Leave to dry for around 15 minutes.
Step 5: Apply another layer of Mod Podge and glitter (steps 1-3) over your first layer. Leave to dry again (step 4) and then repeat until the contents of the bezel are level with the top. After the final layer, leave to dry for around one hour.
Step 6: Tap off any excess glitter and then apply a thin layer of Mod Podge to seal it. Leave to dry for 30-60 minutes.
Step 7: Apply a thicker layer of Mod Podge and leave to dry for two hours.
Step 8: Apply a drop of super glue to the magnet and then attach the magnet to the back of the bezel. Leave to dry for 30 minutes (or according to the glue’s instructions).
Now it’s time to decorate your fridge!
